This FJ55 Land Cruiser should not be separated from the other FJ55 Land Cruisers on this site. For some reason the other ones are labeled as J50 and should all be like this one, FJ55. Is there a reason this one is not grouped together with the one in The Mist, 50 First Dates, Knocked Up etc? Any help? |

J50 is the general code for this generation, I am not sure that this one is FJ55 rather than another model of the J50 series, as that full code depends also on the engine type. |

To my knowledge there was only the 55 and 56 series. They ran from 1967-1980 and the FJ55 was designed to be sold in North America and Australia. The 56 series was only sold in Japan which probably rules out almost every single one. That's why I'm thinking we might as well classify them all as FJ55 (unless we are certain it was filmed in Japan). |

Actually, the same is true for the FJ60 and FJ62. You can tell each apart by the difference between circular headlights and square which changed in 1988. They also could be separated into two groups, but that might be going too far. This Land Cruiser for example should be labeled as FJ62 because it is 1988 or newer. /vehicle.php?id=146561 This is a FJ60 (1980-1987), notice the circular headlights /vehicle_3711-Toyota-Land-Cruiser-J60-1980.html -- Last edit: 2008-05-27 13:55:30 |

The "F" in FJ55 is because it is a 2F petrol engine, if it is a diesel it would be HJ55, the "H" is because of the 2H diesel engine. -- Last edit: 2009-10-06 16:02:14 |

Diesel 50-series Land Cruisers seem pretty rare. The japanese & english Wikipedia articles don't even mention them. As discussed above - nearly a decade ago - most of the 50-series Land Cruisers, including all US-spec models, were gasoline-powered. I'm updating those US-spec ones to FJ55. |
