Post 73. Some "camping" version - maybe original? |

"Original" is difficult with camping-equipment for the VW Bus, especially for the T2. In the 70ies there were a plenty of companies (just more than a dozen only in West-Germany), which have offered such stuff. Only the biggest, mainly Westfalia, have offered complete made Camping-VW's, the others had sold interior-kits for selfmade. Recently I read an article in the "Oldtimer Praxis" about a guy, who owns a VW T2-Camper for over 30 years. On the first view you have thought "Oh, a Westfalia Helsinki", because it was very similar, but it wasn't. You could nearly say, that it was a Westfalia-Fake. It was made by annother, very small company. The owner had choosen that equipment, because it was much cheaper than Westfalia. |

Maybe it wasn't perfect word. Indeed by the "original" I meant mainly Westfalia and that "wasn't made by a guy with power saw in his garage (without any kit from the shop). Anyway if you say that it is not so easy to distinguish small producer's work from Westfalia, with such pic, we probably couldn't be sure what it is. |

This is the problem. All the camper-stuff was available as single parts, so the sliding-window, the plastic-lift-up-roof, the beds, the boards and so on. By Westfalia or other companies. |
