A 96 did not run to Putney Common as far as I remember,probably has the wrong destination on it. |

Twoslices, the 96 DID run to Putney Common,and to Redbridge in the NE of London. Unfortunately it was one of the routes which were lost after the disastrous, for the staff, bus strike in the late 1950's. Poor pay, unsociable hours, being some of the grievances. Many routes were cancelled, the 96 and the 32 come to mind, and it was one of the reasons for the introduction of one man buses. It ironically lead to an increase in car ownership, which further declined the number of bus passengers. |
