![]() The only Schwimmwagen I ever saw for real was in a village on the west bank of the Neusiedlersee, in the Burgenland of Austria, in the 60s. Apparently the guy worked in Podersdorf, on the other side of the lake, and used the Typ 166 to commute ... across the lake. -- Last edit: 2008-02-24 20:30:15 |

I would like to see him "in action"... Sorry I can't tell why, but this story is somehow funny. ![]() Anyway as I believe they are rare today, but I'm still surprised that there are only 4 on the site. -- Last edit: 2008-02-25 01:55:03 |

Fascinating cars, but today very expensive. The last advertise of a Typ 166 in a classic car magazine said something about 80 000 Euro or so, if I remember correctly. In a small town in the Sauerland, south of Dortmund, there is an older man, who owns a Typ 166 since more than 40 years - and still today he take it as all-day-car for daily use. Surely, as boat for the weekend, too. |

I remember in "Motorvision Classic" (probably) there was once something about German fan-club. Yes, mainly older people, every possibility of float in their vehicles was like a holiday for them. |
