That is a South Korean built Mercedes-Benz MB140D? |

No, that's some Chinese van copying or using assets of the Toyota Hiace. Probably a Jinbei Haise? EDIT: This is South Africa and it is called Jinbei H1. Way to steal customers... -- Last edit: 2021-02-13 22:24:57 |

King Long. In South Africa, this 14-seater taxi is called Ibhubezi : http://www.kinglongsa.co.za/product_ibhubezi.html http://kinglongsa.co.za/pdf/ibhubezi.pdf Edit: this is a bit confusing with these Ibhubezi's in ZA. There is also Golden Journey Ibhubezi (Golden Journey is presumably a South African marketed name for Golden Dragon), but it's got a different front : http://goldenjourneysa.co.za/product_ibhubezi.html So, with this front, this should be the King Long version. -- Last edit: 2021-02-13 23:15:06 |

Is there a law for the South African taxis for all to have those decals? |

The literacy rate in SA in 2020 was approximately 87%. Presumably it could be lower amongst the older population, so it may be a way of recognising the taxi you need to go where you want. |

Bit of a double (temporal and spatial) goof, as the scene is set in 1998 and in Kenya. -- Last edit: 2021-09-20 22:36:47 |
