It's a Brazilian Chevrolet Opala base upon Opel Rekord with Chevolet 4cyl engine. This model appeared in 1968/69 with a different grill (streated)when this one has 70's fashionned black grill (maybe 1971/72?)

Sixcyl, you are right about the grill, I will check the exact years and return. The Opala was produced both in 4 cylinder and six cylinder (for your happiness)versions. It was produced from 68 to 92, always with the same basic body, coupé and sedan. 4 cyl engine was always the 151 (2500 cm³) while 6 cyl started with 3800 cm³ and after some years it was enlarged to 4100 cm³ - it was called the 250 (cubic inches) and there were versions 'S' with special tuning.
This became a legendary engine in Brazil, although very heavy what made handling of Opala even poorer than 4 cyl cars. But it was undoubtly reliable. In the nineties GM do Brasil started a local production of Omega (a brazilian version of Opel) and at first, they imported 3 liter 6 cyl engines from Germany, but after some years, GM adapted(?) the old 250 engine to the Omega, as well the 4 cyl engine(2.2 l) of our local Opel Ascona (Monza was the name).
The result of this Omega 4.1 was a unbelivable hot engine room that was able to melt batteries and GM smartly provided a specially cushionned cabin to the battery.

GM was produced in Brazil the Chevrolet Diplomata until 1992, a luxury sedan with the 4.1 6 cyl and the same body of the old Opala with an "actualized" look. The "Diplo" was replaced by the Omega.
