I have tried my best to offer an identification of these two images. Somebody might at least acknowledge that fact. |

The roof does not seem to open at the back, so either open drive limousine or saloon. NOT sedan. |

The Twenty was in production from 1922 until 1929, four wheel servo brakes were adopted in 1924, and the initially three speed gearbox with a central change became four speed with the change on the right in 1925. Total chassis produced 2940, total bodies produced in the factory, zero. This car does not seem to have any brake drums in its front wheels, if so it is pre 1924, but the drums may just be small. Any expertise on this point would be welcome, or, maybe, somebody who knows this car and might help with the coachwork. Thw windscreens look "Hooperish", but there I stop. -- Last edit: 2020-04-05 13:26:53 |

Small book entry for Lawton-Goodman as originating in Liverpool as Lawton prestigious 19thC carriage-builders, then Lawton-Goodman which moved to London and bought out Whitlock car firm after WW1. Bodied Daimlers, RRs (book has picture of a big Phantom II limo), Beardmores and Whitlocks in 1920s, moved to bodying commercial vehicles in 1930s, eventually closed in 1991. Liverpool remnant was sold to Armstrong-Siddeley in 1930s. |

First owner J.B. Joel had the coach builders copy the design of his 1914 Renault Broughham. He bought it for his wife but then promised it to another lady acquaintance. They both turned up to view it at the same time. |

Thank you. I had wondered about the apparent difference in age between the chassis and the design of the body. Now explained. |
