I tried my best to capture the plate more clearly, but it ended up looking fuzzy no matter what

Thanks for trying. I think the plate is F with some permutation of T, V, X, Y. But the only hit I found was

Body type: Sports
Colour: Cream
Date of first registration: December 1952

... and ours is definitely not a TD. Gazing at pictures in a picture book and thinking pre-WW2 with tall thin wheels, a folded flat screen (full screen or twin aeros??), flowing wings, possibly a bit of space behind driver - perhaps TA, TB, maybe PB. Racier things like Magnas seem to be shorter and have cycle wings.

.... or might just be a normal TC.

FYY, London, 1/40 to 2/40.

TA.

FYY is difficult for early 1940 dates. Glass's has TA stopping April 39, replaced by TB which suspended production in Sept 39 (which explains production of only 379). S&G shows a picture of the more formal TB DHC, but mentions alternative open 2-seater. So if plate is FYY, late registered 1939 TB seems best idea. Too blurry to attempt looking for TA/TB/TC differences which were small details only, although I guess this does not have the TA windscreen mount where the trimline came further down bodyside. However I'm not confident with these MGs, relying on what I think I see in a few assorted photos, not confirmed info.
