This is a Porsche. Built and sold by Porsche. VW-Porsche was never a brand. It was a low budget Porsche with VW parts (and with VW engine only by the 914/4cyl). VW-Porsche means Porsche with VW engine. First as VW-Porsche sold, later than Porsche. The 6cyl are only sold as Porsche. I Think the best column for this cars is Porsche and not VW-Porsche. Actually in everywhere but US they were sold as VW-Porsche. both models the 4cylinder and the 6 cylinder In the US they were sold as Porsche's. The bodies were made by Karmann and then shipped to VW for the 4 cylinder models to be built or to Porsche for the 6 cylinder models to be built PORSCHE SALES LITERATURE: VW-Porsche 914 (NON USA) http://mclellansautomotive.com/photos/B22087.jpg Porsche 914 (USA) http://mclellansautomotive.com/photos/B4637.jpg http://mclellansautomotive.com/photos/B22076.jpg Quick 914 history lesson here: http://www.togobeyond.net/914history.html |

914E 2.0, Porsche 914 in US, VW Porsche in EU, in USA they sold the 914s always as a Porsche, in EU only the 914/6 was a Porsche 914, the 4-cylinders had VW VINs, the 6-cylinders Porsche VINs -- Last edit: 2010-07-02 13:11:24 |

The bumper horns are for crash protection in US cars, not because it was a 2.0. 1973 had the "tits" on the front, 1974 had them on both ends, 1975 and 1976 had big rubber bumpers. |
