I agree. 62 Chrysler Newport. This was the one year in the early 1960's that the California Highway Patrol used Chryslers. They were using the fullsize Dodge but, at the begining of 1962 there were no fullsize Dodge models until the late arrival of the Dodge 880. So, the CHP purchased Chrysler Newports. |

Actually, this would be a 1962 Chrysler Enforcer. This car was basically like the Newport, but it had several upgrades that were built for law enforcement agencies. -- Last edit: 2007-10-11 01:02:54 |

Hi i am Eric and my grandfather in le grand california bought one of these at auction and then sold it to my aunt and uncle in the bay area, then they sold it back to him and my parents bought it and drove it for many years. it still had the spotlights on it and no rear door handles on it inside so my mother always had to let us out of the back seat. it sat in le grand for many years after that, until he sold it to a mexican fellow in the le grand area in the 80's. i rode many many many miles in that car as my father used to work for the electric company there and he towed a trailer with it for years. it had a 413 and special camshaft in it. if you would like to hear performance stories about it you can contact me anytime as my father and i both live in idaho now. i always wished i had gotten the car from my grandfather, but alas it wasnt to be. |
