The design of this car was heavily influenced by the first gen Golf/Rabit. The engine was from the VW, though slightly enlarged. Was anything else bought from VW? |

Yes, the engine...I think it was a 1.7L version of the one in the contemporary Rabbit. |

Yeah, I think that's right but remember that the Rabbit's engine went down in size in 1980 to 1.5 liter (I believe that year only) for U.S. emission regulations. |
