In the German translation of the Dutch book "Onbekende buren" ("Unknown neighbours", about German and Dutch people) I've read, that between 1961 and 1973 160 000 Trabant's were exported to the Netherlands. Quite many. When I've been on familiy-vacations in Holland as a child in the 70ies, I've never seen one. I would have remembered that, as a car-fanatic small boy. -- Last edit: 2009-07-30 13:38:16 |

Maybe they were already too much rusted or we felt ashamed and kept them hidden in the garage... I found some percentages of Trabants sold in Holland (compared to the total of sold cars here): 1961 : 0.15 % 1962 : 0.27 % 1963 : 0.76 % 1964 : 1.65 % So in 1964 there were more Trabants sold than DKW/Auto-Union, Morris, Chevrolet, Standard-Triumph, Volvo (only 0.63 %!), Škoda, Neckar, Wartburg-EMW; but less than NSU, Mercedes-Benz (1.84 %!), Austin, Peugeot, BMW, Vauxhall, Citroën (4.65 %), Simca, Ford (UK), DAF, Renault, Fiat, Ford (D), Opel or Volkswagen (15.39 %). I guess that some 250.000 cars were sold in 1964. Somewhere I must have more numbers, more recent and more exact. But I've no idea inwhich of the thousends of magazines I have to look for them |
