By the rear lights and the script in the middle of the bootlid it's a 1968 model year ( F-suffix runs from August 1967 to July 1968 ) 1300 MkII [ADO16]. |

This 4-door Mk2 is one of the mysterious 1967-68 transition models, when MG did both 1100 and 1300 in both 2 door (export only) and 4 door from Oct 67 into March/April 68 before stopping production until a proper launch in Oct 68 as 1300 2 door only. The problems seem to have been internal chaos and insufficient 1275cc engine supply, with all available units going to Austin and Morris ADO16s, so the posh versions (MG, Riley, Wolseley, VdP) hardly got any, and production was spasmodic in small batches. No proper figures found, but these were very rare. YTW 116F was Essex Feb-April 68. Pity the badge can't be read for 1100 or 1300. |
