That's Dacia. Please note logo on grille, and long DACIA-1300 bootlid script. 1972 as first year of export. |

Thank you. Cannot understand why other 1300s are listed with Romanian origin. -- Last edit: 2018-01-11 15:59:06 |

They are listed same way like other license cars, incl. for example VAZ 2101, which also has Soviet orign on the site and not Italian. It would be nice to have some day this model of Dacia in Finnish movie, its Finnish brochure was titled "Renault 12 Dacia" and it had Renault badge (at least on brochure pics)... -- Last edit: 2018-01-10 20:53:58 |

It is not like i did not know about that, the point is, when I wrote the comment, this Dacia was listed with French origin, so that was my way to show there is perhaps some uniformity needed, but as I am not an expert I wanted to make it clear first. -- Last edit: 2018-01-11 01:35:49 |

VAZ 2101 had so many technical changes from genuine FIAT project (for example the engine) that deserves USSR origin. I'd say Dacia doesn't. Different badges that's not enough... |

Concept of car was Italian, they were still involved in this, plant was designed and built with help of Italians, but yes the car was modified compared to Fiat 124, so the later Dacias were also different from R12s - it was process. The idea we would have some old Dacias (also depending on their body type) listed this way, some other that way is also not perfect solution IMO. Two more quite important things: 1) What, if we would have Dacias assembled outside of Romania? It would eliminiate Romanian flag completly with current system. 2) Does mass produced in Romania Dacia 1300 deserves to be treated/listed same way like rare SKD/CKD (whatever it was) Dacia 2000 or Estafette? This is more complicated. 1st Dacia Logan was engineered by Renault, and IMO it was even more French Renault's Dacia than the 1300, as (like we know) company, plant, sale were already fully owned/controlled by Renault and not Romanian state like in the past. I remember antp said that in next version of site there will be something like double orign for license cars. -- Last edit: 2018-01-11 16:08:09 |

A simple licensing should not change the origin except if very different from the original one, but indeed having double flags in the next version of the site will solve that, and until then we can continue with the current listing system. |
