1986 sports biopic about one-season player Pete Gray, a man who accomplished what millions of other boys did in becoming a Major League pitcher for a big name team, a truly remarkable accomplishment given that Pete had lost his right arm in a childhood accident! Despite such a life-changing injury, he did not let this change the course of his dreams and time and time again, he proved himself just as capable a player as if he had both! This dream culminated in a position with the St. Louis Browns for their 1945 season. After baseball, he withdrew from public life, eventually dying in a care facility in 2002, aged 87 years old. His refusal to let his handicap prevent him from following his dream inspired the liked of Jim Abbott, who had a stellar 11-year career despite being born with no right hand. Grey had attempted to join the Army in 1941 after the attack on Pearl Harbor but was denied due to being an amputee. Gray said that, "If I could teach myself how to play baseball with one arm, I sure as hell could handle a rifle." Starring Keith Carradine, Mare Winningham, G.W. Bailey (aka Lt. Harris), and Dennis Weaver!

A very inspiring film along the likes of The Terry Fox Story!

Set from the mid-1920s to 1945.
Airdate: April 14th, 1986
