10 minute recruitment film for the Women's Royal Army Corps (WRAC), taken from COI Collection Volume 3: They Stand Ready. Someone's dropped a big bollock about the film date - imdb says 1950, but not their fault as they're probably just quoting the COI DVD info which repeatedly states 1950 throughout, including the booklet essay on the film. But all the cars are later, including a 1959-62 Mini (August 59 launch) and a Commer FC minibus (launched Jan 60). So 1960-ish, maybe up to about 1962 seems likely - which would match use of colour footage and other stuff in the film backcloths. A mobile radar thing - despite number plate I think it's a trailer (so would have a dedicated tractor unit - not seen) and is probably one of the two units seen later in background This TV might suggest likely film date?? |

"Despite number plate". British military trailers of all kinds had number plates of their own permanently allocated and attached iirc from the days when I managed the contracts for the production of thousands of three quarter tonne wide track trailers we supplied to MoD. -- Last edit: 2017-01-23 09:15:52 |
