TOTAL was very new in Britain, indeed. See: http://www.ianbyrne.free-online.co.uk/total.htm

Thanks for the link DMike ;)

Since I was youg boy, I had always felt a special attraction about petrol pumps and petrol stations, particularly with TOTAL..but also Azur, Caltex, Elf (in 1966), Fina, Mobil, Esso and Shell ...all those present in France in the 60's...
here a Tokheim 39L EZ of 1951 (from Vitesse City 1/43rd scale)

and here my "Relais des Calanques" at 1/87th scale that I made several years ago with cardboard and balsa-wood... the petrol pumps comes from a plastic kit.

The original from where I was inspired, shot in the 1990's somewhere close to Aix en Provence (I don't remember which National number it is :/ ..but it's not the famous N7 ..our french "route 66" :D )

Very nice, sixcyl, many thanks for the nice pics. I never would have such a patience.

Old gas sations are an own history: Link to "www.lostplaces.de"

Sometimes you only can see by the style of the boardwalk, that the must have been a gas-sation decades ago.

You have really done that station justice. Even if the prototype no longer exists, this is an excellent representation to share with others. I'm sure you had fun building it, too! :sun:

The fact that he made it with his hands is :wow: im not as handy at all, and i dont have so much patience, i'd love to build up my own dioramas but they are quite difficult if you are not much into DIY.

Sixcyl, petrolinia, as it is called here, is a big business. You would be surprised to know just how much demand there is from hobbyists and restorers.

The world's only Frank Lloyd Wright-designed petrol depot (I'm trying to sound European!) is located right in my home state in Cloquet, MN. It has two levels, presumably to entertain customers above whose autos are being serviced below. Sadly, the full-service concept is almost dead, and the place was never profitable. I hope a well-funded organization can save it from ruin.

That is beautiful sixcyl! (who would have thought a petrol station could be so nice ... :D ) I certainly could
not have made something so nice as that, (I don’t have time or the patience ... :/ ) But again that scale model is simply remarkable. :)

sixcyl, please accept the admiration of a one-time hamfisted modeller ... making that in 1/87 would have driven me insane! [:crazy]
Off topic, and I expect you know about it, but it might amuse others with an hour or two to waste:

sixcyl wrote I don't remember which National number it is :/ ..but it's not the famous N7 ..our french "route 66" :D

The 'Calangues' are the "fjords of the Méditerrannée" between Marseilles and Cassis-sur-Mer, with the most famous close to Cassis. So I guess it will have been the N 96 going south-east from Aix-en-Provence to Roquevaire, or then N 560 to Aubagne or N 594(A) to Cassis.

As a one time Mechanic/Service Manager in a Full Service Gas Station (at the end of that particular one being such? :( ) I must say that your model is done well past the point of perfection!!! Very good job!! :king:

Really nice model (sounds a bit like a banal after all of these comments), has an atmosphere of the 50's and with all of these modern shapes and 'gadgets' is just waiting for the 'uncle' Hulot. ;)
I also like the 1/86 Norevs. :D The PL17 (same like mine) seems is from re-edition, the red car (Simca 1500/204...?) too?

hola, Hi, Hello [Image: salut.gif]

I am really very gratified by all these laudatory comments!
Thank's very muchs guys [Image: jap.gif]

I built this gas-station 7 years ago. I can't remember how much time it took... but it was just a question of patience. I was willing to do an ESSO in 2001, but by lack of time I've never kept on this project (though IMCDb, this "addictive time eater" was even not born at that time :D ) .. I'll post it in the thread openned on the forum by CCF ;)

Good idea to post this link :) ... I'already knew it, but it worth to be glances through several times ;)

Sorry Mike, but I cheated a little bit for the name, because I didn't noticed it when I took this picture (1995 or 1996 ...) ... I found the name "Relais des Calanques" sounding nice, but I'm afraid it doesn't exist :/ ... that makes the question of the road number still alive :D

Weasel1984 wrote I also like the 1/86 Norevs. :D The PL17 (same like mine) seems is from re-edition, the red car (Simca 1500/204...?) too?

No the PL17 is a genuine 1960 MicroNorev, as the Peugeot 204, the Citroen 2CV , the Simca 1500 ... the Plymouth Valiant is from Heljan (Danemark) , but ex Revell HO scale series. ;)

I'm Told this film shows an MGA Twin Cam or MGA Deluxe.

Anyone able to upload the screen capture photo ?

Sunbar UK

Its likely the MGA was one of the two missing thumbnails in stronghold's first comment above.

Therefore I have attempted a 'repair' to provide some replacement sceen captures, including the front of the MGA which I believe is all that is visible.

Delighted to witness the succes sixyl made with his wonderful model of a Total gas station...

Now, about this movie. I’ve seen a little bunch of mediocre Dearden’s films recently. Victim is not of the kind. And if I can’t say I’m a fan of Dirk Bogarde’s histrionics, there is nothing of the sort, here. And in the end, though there was a bit of preaching and didacticism, this motion picture kept me gripped (can I say gripped?). Very good indeed, dark – what a villain played by Derren Nesbitt! – with a silver lining – the wife, Sylvia Syms, and both efficient though different police officers played by John Barrie and John Cairney. It reminds you English viewers a time when Scotland Yard was chasing real villains. (Funny, isn’t it? Those times were when the bandits were sporting masks. Now it appears that the bandits to be chased are the un-masked.)

I time-tagged the whole crop harvested by stronghold, but I replaced (same frame, much better pics) only the [*][*]+ ones. Maybe one dsl could find in the new pics some plates to check or re-check.

Salut à tous !
