Excellent 25 minute ramble round Britain for various bits of interesting transport stuff, and good fun to work with because of excellent quality footage. Taken from British Transport Films Volume Four: Reshaping British Railways 2-DVD set. Can be seen at the start of this centipede or this one. Bits - British Rail 18000 prototype mainline gas turbine-electric locomotive built for British Railways in 1949 by Brown, Boveri & Cie - a big petrol-powered spanner for tightening railway bolts - Garelochhead ship breakers ... started on disused WW2 navy base, closed in the 1980s and absorbed into Faslane nuclear submarine base. I think the boat is RMS Aquitania built for Cunard in 1913 and at 36 years had the longest service career of any 20th-century express liner until 2004 when Queen Elizabeth 2 became the longest serving Cunard vessel. I bet they needed a couple of 5-jib cranes to dismantle those 4 funnels . - Granny's Tomato Soup in Argyll depot
