Also called "Dad, Can I Borrow The Car?"

Although IMDb says this was written for TV, it was released in theaters and wasn't on TV until '72 as an episode of The Wonderful World of Disney. For which additional material was filmed, extending the short from ~23 minutes to 47.

Ohh... I remember that....

There is a picture of crashed car for sale

Disney Channel used this, or at least clips from it, as filler in the '80s. I know I saw the racing pinstripes and the talking Sprite on there when visiting my sister and her kid.

Here's a close-up of the pedal car...

Any of these still around?

I have no idea what I'd do with it if I bought it, but it looks like an interesting collector's item.

Very funny! One of my favorite Disney episodes - it was available on a two-episode VHS tape along with "The Rock Star and the Tiger". I imagine the scene in the car wash was one of the added sequences, as the main character was played by a different actor! Also note when they show his driver's license - the boy's name is "Rex Carr".

The version I have runs 22 minutes so it's probably the original.

When I was a kid my mom recorded this off of the television for me and I used to watch it all the time. I still like watching it. anyone know where I can find this on DVD?

Doesn't seem to have an official release on DVD but Amazon has the VHS that 62imperial mentioned.

A later model apparently turned up on eBay last year.

Hey, the longer version has been added to YouTube!

Yeah, that's the version I remember being on Disney Channel: the pinstripes at around the half-hour mark rather than under the opening credits.

Unless somebody beats me to it, I'll add 18.19 here at some point after completing Season 2 of "America in Color". The longer version has vehicles not seen in this one.

Should be deleted as this episode is now on the Disneyland page. The thumbs could be moved there, though.

I don't think this is identifiable beyond GM Prototype.
