The IMDB says this was filmed in Austria, France, Germany, Hungary, Lebanon, Morocco, Sudan and Yemen.

More realistically, I suspect that Morocco doubled for Sudan and Yemen, and I wouldn't be surprised if Hungary doubled for Austria. There are specific credits on the IMDB for crew members in Germany, Lebanon and the UK.

According to German newspaper articles most of the movie was shot in eastern Germany, standing in for Vienna and outer Budapest. All airport scenes were shot at Tempelhof, Berlin. Additional shooting in London, Paris and Budapest as well as in Lebanon, Sudan and Yemen.

Research on the vehicles was conducted very poorly. There were W123 driving around in 1975, you could spot loads of modern cars in Vienna near the tram stop (which was too modern as well). And in one scene the destination on the bus read "Sonderfahrt" and in the next it was "U-Bahnhof Innsbrucker Platz" (on the airport). The rear lights on the bus indicated a later model than 1975, they should have been round and not square.
