1992 Nissan 240SX Convertible [S13]
The Fog (2005)
1992-1994 Nissan 240sx convertible [S13]. japanese origin, made for - or IN - the USA?? - these were assembled and shipped as coupes from japan, then made into convertibles by Nissan in the USA.

all were automatic.

1982 Datsun 200SX [S110]
Dallas (1978-1991)
yep. datsun though. 1982+ Datsun 200SX [S110]... 1980-83 for the body style, but the year range for this one is limited to 1982-83 by the front bumper style.

1972 Datsun 620
Cruz de amapola (2003)
not my specialty exactly, but with a quick search of the net, i can't find any indication anywhere that these were called anything specific in mexico - just "Datsun 620", and no indication of a local assembly for Mexico either. do the front side markers actually make it "for USA", independent of the fact that it obviously ended up south of the border..? 2010-03-31 00:18
1976 Jeep CJ-5

CJ-5... and agreed - not a renegade. 2010-03-30 04:48
1984 BMW 3 [E30]
Brotherhood of Justice (1986)
seems that could certainly be true for production data... must have taken some time to get them here and prepped for sale, as the e30 cars sold here were sold as new for the 1984 model year. 2010-03-27 18:30
1984 BMW 3 [E30]
Invasion (2005-2006)
1984+ for the e30 in the US... (e21 320i for 1983) 2010-03-27 17:42
1984 BMW 3 [E30]
Slaughter High (1986)
84+ for e30 in the US... but the steel wheels didn't come here on the e30 cars, so i'd stick with 1983 and presume UK model. 2010-03-27 17:41
1984 BMW 3 [E30]
Brotherhood of Justice (1986)
1984+ to get the e30 in the US... we still had an e21 320i for 1983... 2010-03-27 17:38

The Escapist (1983)
the "Celica" to the left is actually a 6 cyl. 1979-81 Celica Supra MKI... more unusual than the RX-7 in fact. 2010-03-26 19:31
1983 Ford LTD Country Squire
The Escapist (1983)

1981 Cadillac Eldorado
The Escapist (1983)
for a moment i was thinking cutlass... but based on the front cornering light my vote goes to the eldorado as well. 2010-03-26 14:15

1974 Datsun 260Z 2+2 [S30]
The Rockford Files (1974-1980)
early 1974... 1/2 year model only in this form. 1974 was the first year that the S30 z-cars were offered in 2+2 configuration, and only the first half of the year wore the smaller bumper style like this. mid-model year 1974 brought the introduction of the "5mph bumpers" to the 260z that the 280z would wear from 1975-76 unchanged. this one has an aftermarket (Amco) rear bumper over-rider bar to go with the Appliance wire basket wheels. 2010-03-23 00:40

1995 Isuzu Trooper S
Bored to Death (2009-2011)
trooper... would have been able to give a really good guess on the year once upon a time, my ex-wife had three of these back to back, but i've blocked it out.

1984 Toyota Celica GT [TA60]
All Saints (1998-2009)
the black headlight covers integral with the grille would make this a 1984 or 1985 model only (in the U.S. at least). probably best listed as a hatchback rather than a coupe, as there was a coupe body style as well. 2010-03-23 00:19
1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
Kojak (1973-1978)
:hello: @ CougarTim

ah... thank you. that would make sense even with the cars in my memory (the supreme with the smaller quarter windows would have been a '74, and the '73 would have been a base...) i appreciate the information indeed.

Dodge Dart
Cazador de asesinos (1983)
this car definitely has the tail lights from the valiant in big dave's link, but where the linked valiant says "P L Y M O U T H" in the panel between the tail lights this one pictured only has 5 letters. all bets are off south of the border, and those letters are like the bottom line on the eye chart after a few negro modelo - fuzzy - but unless there's something else that those 5 letters could spell... i still vote dodge.

1981 Oldsmobile Cutlass
The Informant! (2009)
rather than the other GM clones... i'm going to say Oldsmobile Cutlass - based on the shape of the rear quarter windows. 1981+ though somebody else might be able to make it definitively later..? 2010-03-22 03:34

1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
Kojak (1973-1978)
didn't the '73 have a much larger rear quarter glass, while the '74 had this smaller "opera window" style quarter lite..? - and the sides of the '73 perhaps had more dramatically sculpted side sweeps while the '74 was flatter down the side? it could just be tainted memory on my part, as i'm drawing on cars that friends of the family had when i was really young (i was 2 or 3 when this one was new), but coming from a household as a child where i was surrounded by pontiacs (and british cars), the cutlass was one of my childhood favorites... just different enough from the GTOs that we had kicking around to be familiar, but interesting all the same. 2010-03-22 01:12

citrus green... one year color (1/2 year actually). 1979 only.

1979 Datsun 280ZX GL [S130]
Wonder Woman (1976-1979)

1978 Datsun 280Z Black Pearl Edition [S30]
U2: I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (1987)
1978 only... black pearl edition. 2010-03-21 04:53
1972 Datsun 240Z [S30]
Clarkson: Hot Metal (2004)
nearest first: 240z or 260z... 240z... 260z 2+2. the red coupe (the earliest identifiable) is - at the earliest - a late 1971. probably, we should set that the capture for that one as a 1972. the 260z 2+2 would be a 1974+. 2010-03-21 04:50
1972 Datsun 240Z [S30]
Riding with Death (1976)
looks like the smaller (round) vented sail pillar emblem - that would make this a late 1971.5+ series II 240z. most of the series II cars have been listed as 1972+. 2010-03-21 04:50
1977 Toyota Celica [TA22]
All Saints (1998-2009)
i am always hesitant to try to apply what i know about cars as they were imported into the U.S. to those captured from films made elsewhere, as so many differences are involved in specific trim, model names, and even years available. this body style would have been introduced to the U.S. during 1970 for the 1971 model year, and run through 1977. i BELIEVE that other countries that didn't require federalized bumpers got the updated body style that we received as 1978 models during the 1977 model year instead, which would make this (presuming australian filming) a 1970-76 body style. within that range, it seems to me that we got these mirrors at the same time that we got the big bumpers in 1975. logically (for what logic is worth), that would make this celica a 1975 or 1976 australian model.

1965 Pontiac Parisienne Custom Sport Convertible
El robo de las momias de Guanajuato (1972)
there was only a grand prix convertible for one year - 1967 - and this isn't that car. i'll buy the 1965 (i had a '64 bonneville convertible, and this isn't a 1964 catalina or bonneville), ... 1965 catalina would be my best guess. 2010-03-20 04:05
1977 Toyota Celica [TA22]

Toyota Celica. 2010-03-19 16:58
1984 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE [FB]
Pulp Fiction (1994)
the RX-7 is a GSL-SE model... 1984 or 1985 only. the only RX-7 in that body style to be equipped with the 13B motor, or the wheels pictured. 2010-03-18 04:14
1970 Datsun 240Z [S30]
Mission: Impossible (1966-1973)
jettalover wrote What were those vents "venting"?

they're for flow through cabin ventilation. from 1971.5 on, the outflow point moved to the sail pillar emblems, and the rear hatch vents disappeared. the early cars like this one with the rear hatch vents had sail pillar emblems that said "240z"... on the later cars with the vented pillars, the pillar emblems were circular, with only a "Z" in the center.

1964 Nissan 2000 GT prototype [A550X]
Full Throttle (2004-2005)
as a fan of both... i completely agree. even Nissan/Datsun states that while they corporately had a hand in research and funding this particular prototype, they rejected/released the prototype, in favor of designing the (obviously quite similar) Z car themselves. 2010-03-17 15:24
1974 Datsun 260Z [S30]
The Rockford Files (1974-1980)
excellent... the extra captures help greatly. "for once"... the writers of the show got it right. this is a 1974 Datsun 260z ~ from the first half of the model year, while the bumpers still resembled those of the earlier cars. made for the USA. 2010-03-17 15:08
1970 Datsun 240Z [S30]
Greatest Years of Rallying: 1970s
the 2nd thumbnail is a 1970 or early 1971 series I car. the 3rd thumbnail (#18)... is a late 1971.5 or 1972 series II car. not sure about the others from visible clues - if i get some time i'll try to do some research by number. 2010-03-17 03:20
2002 Nissan Stagea AR-X [M35]
Kuitan (2006)
i love this car... love it. there is definitely a rear element similar to volvo, but also to honda and toyota prior... and what i really see, is a wagon-o-fied variation of the infinity G35 coupe rear lights. 2010-03-17 02:52
1973 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme
Kojak (1973-1978)
possibly a somewhat distorted 1974 oldsmobile cutlass supreme colonnade coupe captured from an odd angle? that would account for the apparent decorative venting on the front fender behind the wheel, and for the size... it appears to be longer than the short wheel base van. pretty good sized car. 2010-03-16 03:45
