1931 Ford Model A
J. Edgar (2011)
According to "The Vendetta", a biography written by Alston Purvis (FBI hot-shot Melvin Purvis' son), "[in the early 1930's], most agents drove modest Fords, if they drove at all; [...]". So, I think it suits the story. 2012-11-19 08:28

1951 Mercedes-Benz 170 D OTP [W136.VID]
Valkyrie (2008)
Absolutely right. In the years of 1951 and 1952, Mercedes-Benz produced the 170 D OTP (= Offener Tourenwagen Polizei) for official use in the Bundesgrenzschutz (BGS) and the state Bereitschaftspolizei units. All units were painted in polizeigrün. (Except the ones which were delivered to the police force of West Berlin, which were all painted dark blue.)

Cheers!

1962 Mercedes-Benz 190 D [W110]
Fatherland (1994)
These police cars are so trashy! "SS" registration plates, "SS" markings and modern single beacons with magnetic mount. In the novel, Xavier March drove a black Volkswagen Type 1 four-door sedan (!) with a two-way radio under the dashboard. 2009-02-26 11:33
1937 Mercedes-Benz 260 D Pullman Limousine [W138]
Garrison's Gorillas (1967-1968)
Haha! Roof-mounted single beacons on emergency vehicles were first introduced in Germany in 1956. Before that there had been a cyan blue steady (spot) light. 2009-02-26 11:14

From Russia with Love (1963)
Right; and in the books James Bond drove a 4½ Litre Supercharged ("Blower Bentley"). 2008-08-30 11:31
1946 Dodge Custom Club Coupe [D-24-C]
The Black Dahlia (2006)
By the way: In the James Ellroy book, "Lee" Blanchard's car is described as a "'40 Ford coupe with a contraband two-way under the dashboard". It's strange that they finally chose a 1946 Dodge Custom because during the shooting of the film I saw a perfectly matching black 1940 Ford Deluxe Coupe at the set...
