1954 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith Freestone & Webb [DLW44]
Intelligence Men (1965)
There's a nice Rolls-Royce featured in the film Withnail and I (that I WILL make captures for when I get my DVD back), that must have a Hooper body, it has big yellow bits on the sides and swooping lines, though I don't know what year or exact model it is or anything, I will add it when my friend returns from Fiji, he has it at his house. I always wondered what it was since it looked a lot different from a Silver Cloud or one of the Phantom Series.

To me it just seems a bit too fish-like. It flares up at the sides like a manta ray (maybe that was the idea, the Chevy Corvette C3 was meant to look like a shark). It wouldn't call it ugly, but I'm not sure if I could live with those looks.

The Sopranos (1999-2007)
The reason I posted cars from the title sequence is because if you are a follower of this show, you will have seen this iconic opening credits sequence dozens and dozens of times at the very least. Since it's a trademark of the show I thought it was worth noting some of the cars that pass by in it. Though maybe this one is a bit too blurry. 2007-01-25 14:00

The Bourne Supremacy (2004) After buying the Ronin DVD recently I realised exactly how much better the chases in it are than the ones in most other recent Hollywood films, take the chase in this film, it wasn't bad but there was so much editing (too many shots of Bourne changing gear and putting his foot down) and shakey camera movement instead of raw speed and stunt driving, the cars never seemed to be going faster than 50 mph, whereas the cars in Ronin did well over 100 mph in places. It's like a lot directors doing action films have been affected by Michael Bay syndrome, where everything is edited to within an inch of its life and shots never last longer than a single second.

Well I don't know how you can see the mirrors in this picture, but it's worth listing anyway since it's a Bentley. I saw this film last night and I kept thinking it I was in that situation, I'd try and take it for a joyride. Then I'd hit the nearest Ferrari dealers.

Die Another Day (2002)
He wasn't even bald!! Charles Grey was very miscast, he was good in his little cameo in You Only Twice, but not right as Blofeld at all. I hate it when in the main climax at the oil rig he gets stuck in some escape pod and dangled about by a crane, Grey just sits inside shouting "What the bloody hell's going on?!". I think the only interesting thing about Diamonds Are Forever is that it seems to be the one the first Austin Powers film borrowed the most from in terms of production design.

Die Another Day (2002)
I fairly enjoyed Die Another Day but the cinema, but after watching it for the second and third thim it didn't take long to see it's weaknesses, and the ending is pretty bad (awful CGI). It's definetely subpar, the worst of Brosnan's films and as weak as the sillier Roger Moore films. My least favourite Bond film is easily Diamonds Are Forever (I hated what they did with Blofeld).

During Series 6 Johnny Sack is in prison awaiting trial, so to help make ends meet Ginny sells his Maserati that he bought in Series 5 to Christopher for $25,000. However it is not the same one used in the previous series, it has been facelifted and has a trident badge on the C-pillar.

It is a Cambiocorsa, if you look at the second thumbnail you can see one of the paddles (it has a paddle gearbox system).

First appearing in episode 6.02, Christopher rides around in his new Maserati with pride until episode 6.10 the US Marshals confiscate it as part of Johnny Sack's asset seizure (Ginny shouldn't have sold it to him since their assets were frozen).

1991 BMW 535i [E34]
Ronin (1998)
Neptune wrote

Not all high speed driving is done by just stunt drivers; there are exceptions to the rule. (Sometimes it depends on the actors & actresses, if they want to do that sort of thing) Take the movie: Gone in 60 seconds (2000) for example. Some of the primary actors like Nicolas Cage and Angelina Jolie took special stunt driving classes at a stunt driving school just for that movie.

Gone in 60 Seconds is pretty tame compared to the driving they did in this film. I just watched the featurettes on the DVD and there is no mention of any driving school that the actors went to. In fact some of them (including De Niro) were pretty nervous about having to go in the cars with the stunt drivers so they could film some convincing interiors shots (no dodgy back projection in this film). Maybe they did minor bits of driving (Natasha McElhone mentions that she had a simple stunt to do, but her boyfriend had come to watch so got distracted and messed it up) but all the hairy stuff (and there is a lot more hairy stuff than in most recent Hollywood films) was done by professional racing drivers. IMDB says that actor Skip Suddith (who plays Larry) did his own driving and on the DVD he says "John's directions were very point-blank, he said "you don't win points by smashing this thing into a wall" and "I don't want to see those brake lights"", but then some of the stunts featured the Audi that his character drove were done with the customized Audi with the driving seat in the boot.

If it's OK, here are some captures from the DVD

From the special features on the 2-disc Special Edition Region 2 UK DVD:

The British registered BMW:

The one they used for the bit where the car flips overs, this one has an M badge on the grille:

Natasha McElhone's stunt double, racing driver Michel Neugarten (it's a good thing he never tried to be a drag artist), just about all of the stunt drivers who did all the high-speed driving were racing drivers, even the people who drove the traffic cars that the BMW and the Peugeot dodge head-on.

Robert De Niro behind the fake steering wheel in the Peugeot with the stunt driver who is really controlling the car (sorry about the blurry pictures):

With the Audi a replica was built (so they said on the DVD) that could be driven from the rear:
[Image: roninbehindscenesaudi3uj.6476.jpg] [Image: roninbehindscenesaudi26mu.3820.jpg] [Image: roninbehindscenesaudi35ks.th.jpg]

They also did this with the Mercedes:

They used Porsches as camera cars:

1993 Cadillac Fleetwood Stretched Limousine
Houseguest (1995)
Isn't it better to keep the model name eg. "DeVille Stretched Limousine" so we know what it was based on, instead all Cadillac stretches being called Custom Stretch Limousine. There are tons of Lincoln limos listed as Town Car Stretched instead of Lincoln Custom Stretched.
