The US military had a competition to replace the aging jeep for there military vehicles and both the Lamborgini and Hum-vee were both designed for this competition and AM General one The Lamborghini Cheetah was lend to the US Military for testing in 1977. It was rejected for not being from a US company (nationalism is quite important in military circles) but tested and later crashed all the same. On the knowledge gained with this vehicle the final draft for the HMMWV was drawn in 1979, which later was met by AM General. But further down on the above mentioned page the production vehicle is displayed: I cannot say if a brand name is given for the vehicle in the text. So far I could not find any further information about these vehicles. G-MANN wrote Hummer should sue Toyota for violating copyright laws.
