Doomsday (2008)
kitchenwarehelmet USOne of my all time favorite movies, right up there with Escape from New York (which also wasn't a "masterpiece" - neither was intended to be). As for the Bentley not dusting the Rover... Eden apparently chooses to engage the car rather than out run it. As the Rover first approaches,

STRIRLING: Put your foot down!
SINCLAIR: I'm tired of running from these bastards.

My question is where did this car come from? The Glasgowian cannibals must have found it in a museum or collection, no way a '78 jam sandwich like that was still in service in 2008 when the Reaper virus hit. A private collection may explain why it has a Norfolk Constabulary roof code (36) and that oddly American heptagram on the doors (point up with Scottish police crest in the center and what must be "Central Scotland Police" in the circle). Quite an eclectic collector/production designer. Must've been from Norfolk.

Presumably the Rover isn't quite stock.

Disagreed on the film, too. It was no masterpiece, but I found it to be an entertaining post-apocalyptic genre picture.

Nikodemus FIAs much as I like this car I wonder how those nomads in the SD1 managed to catch the Continental GT clearly driving really fast. The Rover does look swift but certainly is not anyway near the GT's speeds.

BTW. Appalling film

antp BEFrom IMDB:
Quote The APC vehicles were manufactured with real steel plating and armor plated glass windscreens so that actors and stunt people could interact with them authentically. They took four or five weeks to design and ten weeks to build. Two were manufactured, and every piece of them was custom made.

BlackIce_GTS CAIn the movie, they say it's got twin V12s and 2 inch armour plating.
I think they weren't based on Tatra 813s. On 813s, the front two axles do the steering, and I'm pretty sure I saw these turning with the front and rear axles.

Doomsday (2008) BlackIce_GTS CANeptune: The virus just kills them. The cannibals just do it because it's fun, or there's nothing else to eat. This movie's not big on details.

Leoz: It's Mad Max, 28 Days Later, and Lord of the Rings (a little).

Opel Kadett [D]
Doomsday (2008)
ecclefechan SXThey also had right hand drive Opels in the UK until around 1983. The Senator was originally only Opel badged and the Kaddett was introduced in 1979 in the UK as an Opel, around a year before it was released as a Vauxhall in 1980.

This scene was filmed in South Africa so I'm sure this would be an Opel rather than a Vauxhall.

ecclefechan SXWere the right hand drive ones in South Africa badged as Vauxhalls? I wouldn't be so sure of that, as they were also sold in RHD in the UK as Opel Kaddetts until around 1983. 2008-08-03 00:16

badlymad CAIt does not match any 8x8 military APC potentially available in Britain or South Africa, so it is possible that this is a Made for Movie based on a 8x8 chassis like the Tatra 813 (which was also the basis for the OT-64 SKOT)
