@JB:
Why GMC, why 2500HD, and why 2001 (if not a HD)? Just another "I saw it once so all vaguely similar vehicles must be the same" guess?

wheels seems to the HD ones ( i don't know if there is some non-HD higher than 1500 )
probably because the Sierra had those tail lights longer than the Silverado

2001 was the first year for Crew Cabs in this body style and they were only available on 1500HD, 2500HD and 3500 models.

By the internal code, this one is the K-Series (four wheels drive) (visible 4x4 decal on the bed).

@ rjluna:
K-Series with the GMT800/GMT880 platform, really?

@ Truck Guy:
Better to say it in order: 2001 was the first year for HD models, and the Crew cab was only available with these trucks :)
But there was no 1500HD before 2002, from what I saw in GM brochures and leaflets...

@ Baube: JB's "identifications" must be checked twice, he often just copy-paste (without analysis) former identifications which were made by other people and for specific reasons.

About the available models:
• Standard models (GMT800 platform code):
  ∗ Silverado/Sierra 1500
      → Sportside: Regular/Extended cab;
      → Fleetside: Short/long box + Regular/Extended cab.
  ∗ Silverado/Sierra 2500 (Fleetside only)
      → Regular cab + Long box;
      → Extended cab + Short box.

• HD models (GMT880 platform code. Fleetside only, as pickup):
  ∗Silverado/Sierra 1500HD (doesn't appear in the 2001 HD documents ⇒ 2002+ ?)
      → Crew cab + Short box.
  ∗ Silverado/Sierra 2500HD
      → Regular cab + Long box;
      → Extended/Crew cab + Short/long box;
  ∗ Silverado/Sierra 3500 (no HD in the name. DRW option -a.k.a. Big Dooley if a Chevrolet- standard on Crew cab)
      → Regular/Extended/Crew cab + Long box;
      → Regular/Extended cab + chassis cab.

About the taillights:
As far as I see, there's no difference between 1999-2002 Chevrolet and 1999-2007 GMC models ;)
[Image: 2002chevroletsilverado2500hdcrewcabshortbox.jpg] [Image: 2002-06gmcsierrahdcrewcabshortbox.jpg]
(2001/02+ models here, of course)
_____

Question is: short box or long one? If a short box, then either:
- a Silverado 1500HD (2002 only) / 2500HD (2001-2002),
- a Sierra 1500HD (2002-06) / 2500HD (2001-06)
But if a long box, then it can only be a Silverado/Sierra 2500HD.

Unless being sure of a long box, and pending a better screenshot (if any),
⇒ 2001 GM Crew Cab [GMT880]? (i.e. without model name, like some other GM models: see GMT800, GMT900 or GMT910)

@eLMeR: Did they abolished the C/K series by then?

Baube QC

2017-01-29 04:39

@ eLMeR : whenever it is a Silverado/Sierra seen from that point of view, i never ID the vehicle unless there is something to clarify them
no matter Sierra or his Chevy friend, it does look like HD wheels to me

@ rjluna:
The last time GM used the C/K nomenclature was with the 1988-98 GMT400 models. That's why C/K-Series can be used for unidentifiable GM model of that era, despite the official Sierra name used for the GMC trucks.

@ Baube:
I agree with you, mon ami, see the possible models I propose under the pictures. And don't forget that it has a Crew cab, which was only available on HD models ;)
My 1st question was only for JB, hoping (I'm an optimistic guy ;) ) that he would admit at least once that he has no idea of what he usually copy-paste :D

Shouldn't we keep it as "2001 GM unknown HD Crew Cab" rather than with unknown as make? Having unknown somewhere, whether in make or in model name, keeps it in the unknown pages, so curious/knowledgeable can find it easily. A GM unknown is what we got for now, and I suspect there won't be any better shot to say more...

@eLMeR:

The C/K name went on until 2000 for 2500/3500 pickups and 2002 for the C3500HD Chassis Cab.

Thanks, Truck Guy. I know what we could call the "Classics" (with reference to the way these carry-over trucks will be called for later truck lines) and the continuation of the commercial versions, but I was talking about the "standard" model years of the truck line on purpose, to avoid mistakes. The same way we usually say that the R/V-Series truck line stops in 1987 while the last trucks went out of factory in 1991...
