A Rootes-jewel?? Can't trace HGJ 192 but was Oct 45 to April 47 "allocated in blocks". Or if HGO and HGU, were similar dates. Another possible duplicate page??

Update - seems to have been a genuine plate after all:

"Tue 4 Dec 2007, Registration Checker - Muggy: Now one question remains - is there any way of finding out if the car actually still exists or has been scrapped? (Sold for scrap is not the same as actually being scrapped is it?) Presumably if it had been reported as scrapped the DVLA website would not find the vehicle any more? (As happens with, for example, Hillman HGJ 192)" - http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/post/index.htm?t=58090

E-mails received from David M.:
It was a 1945 Hillman Minx Reg No. HGJ 192.
I purchased this car in 1960 when it was 15 years old and used it extensively for 15 years, and sold it in full working order in 1975 when it was 30 years old. By the time I sold it it had covered well over 100,000 miles, and was sold with a full MOT certificate. It went to a company that needed elderly vehicles for film and TV work.

It was good to see sight of it again, and glad it had an afterlife!

I have managed to find the photos of my Hillman Minx HGJ 192, and have scanned and attach them herewith.

I cannot put a precise date on one picture, (the side view of whole car), but estimate it was 1965 to 1970.

The two, (front view and rear view pictured beside the caravan), were 1969.

The one on the trailer was 1975, and shows the vehicle ready to be taken to new owners.
