Enjoyed watching the build of this car during the series. Heard Magoo's actually built it between shoots. Then I heard that Jay Leno bought it after it was finished and sold Tim the ragged '46 Ford ragtop that was on the show later. Then saw Tim drive the finished 'vert out on Leno's stage set one night during the Tonight Show. Anyone know if these stories were true? Loved the '33 and would be pleased to think that Leno has it. Then I know it would be cared for properly and not stuck in some movie lot car corral to waste away. Don't know what became of the '46 'vert either. It sure looked terrific on the Leno show that night. Never saw or heard of it again. Tim went on to build a killer track T roadster with Steve Moal and the 'vert's destiny is a mystery to the rest of us. |

I don't know if that story is correct. Tim Allen put his Corvette Z06 on eBay and in the pictures you can clearly see the Ford Coupe in the background. Here's the link: Tim Allen's Garage Didn't see the 46 Ford though. Not sure what happened to it. |

Tim Allen actually owns the ‘33 Ford Hot Rod and the ‘46 Ford from the show in real life. They are both in his collection. He also owns the Green Ford Truck from Last Man Standing (if you’re also a fan of that show). On the show, Tim Taylor sold the ‘33 to a guy (Papa Mia) who had a large collection (the collection actually used for the show scene was Jay Leno’s personal collection) and Jay Leno acted as the guy’s personal car detailer. Just to clear up any confusion. -- Last edit: 2020-10-31 20:10:26 |
