I didn't know they built a Right Hand Drive version of the Impala?

The wiper arms also look unusual. They sweep in opposite directions to the centre unlike the normal Left Hand Drive model which sweep in the same direction /vehicle_41993-Chevrolet-Impala-1965.html . It's odd that there appears to be a door mirror on the passenger side (driver side in the USA) and none on the driver's side on this UK example.

Were these produced specially as a conversion?

There were some RHD '64 models brought in, factory Canadian-built. But, yes, this may be a one-off promo car that was converted later. I don't see a mirror mounting on either door though.

At the time (1960s and 1970s) the sole importer and therefore only authorised dealer for North American GM vehicles into the UK was something like 'Lenham and Hartman' in London I think I remember. Can anyone confirm or correct this?

edit: Lendrum & Hartman sole concessionaires were in London's west-end for GM-Canada cars from 1930s to the mid-1970s.

I cannot say if they converted vehicles but I thought not and most were sold as left hand drive. It would be interesting if this was a one-off or even a short run of right hand drives made in North America for the UK.

Yes, there is one on the door as we call it "driver side".

All these sports car entries (Healey, Spitfire etc) look like they come from a 1980s pop video for somebody like Haircut 100 or similar?

Yes, Lendrum and Hartman's Kensington workshops did convert cars from LHD to RHD, and I know that GM-H sold rhd Bel Airs and Laurentians, and later Impalas and Parisiennes in Australia and New Zealand that were assembled locally from CKD kits, but this Impala likely was likely built in Canada and in RHD for the UK market. This was a banner year for Chevrolet, selling a record number of the full-size Chevrolets, with a very attractive design in my opinion that at least in terms of style, equipment, and value had a measure of attraction outside North America, even if its size and handling may not have suited local needs. I can't remember the details, but to make such an effort remotely viable, it seemed to me that the cars in Oz and NZ had a RHD '61 Pontiac dash used for both Chevy and Pontiacs, while the '65 through '68 used a RHD '65 dash from either the Impala or Parisienne. And as this '65 Impala, these did have the "clapping" style wipers that were not on the US and (I think) Canadian models.
