It looks like the coachbuilder has taken the standard cab and constructed the van body on to it. IIRC in the period just following WW2 when new vehicles were in short supply the transport firms took the view that a Vulcan was better than nothing, but not by much. An old trucker I knew (he owned the company) whose memory went back to the firm running Manchester trucks in the thirties was quite scathing about Vulcan and Seddon trucks with Perkins engines, saying he would much rather have a Foden with a Gardner engine any time. The firm later changed to the MAN range for heavy work.

Foden with Gardner a lot more expensive than cheap and cheerful Seddons and Vulcans though .

I quite agree, you get what you pay for, but as part of his firm specialised in overweight and outside gauge loads I suppose he had a point. He said that the P6 took some starting on cold mornings, and if the drivers used too much easy start it wasn't good for the piston rings.
