@GABRIMIUM: I don't know how familiar you are with buses from the 60's. Taking a random (city or commuting) bus in the 70's and 30 years onwards, and in Sweden, you would most probably be correct, with a few exceptions. That is because by then Scania owned the former SKV plant in Katrineholm and although Volvo didn't own the former Höglund & Co in Säffle, they built mainly on Volvo chassis until Volvo bought them in the early 80's (If I remember this correctly). However, in Norway, all the coach manufacturer were independent and thus built on the chassis provided by however placed the order. A few examples of Norwegian coach builders were; VBK, Larvik, T. Knudsen and Arna. They sometimes built on Volvo and Scania chassis, but also not rarely on Mercedes, DAF and Leyland. Especially the latter was common in many countries until Volvo bought it in 1988 and in 1993 the name disappeared all together. The above bus can indeed be a Scania or a Volvo, but most probably not as it doesn't say "Scania-Vabis" or "Volvo" on the front bumper. I'd vote for a Leyland. -- Last edit: 2016-10-10 19:03:10 |
