Very strange picture - orange is a Mini Mk3 (probably 1000) but red is a Mk2 with exposed hinges and sliding windows. So I guess this is August/September 69 footage during changeover - maybe a pilot-build MK3?? I think this sequence is Longbridge - there's an Austin 1800 Mk2 one shots (although by end of 60s there was lots of production switching between Longbridge and Cowley across Austin and Morris batches). Lots more assorted Minis - mainly Mk2, including vans and LHDs |

I've been trying to ascertain what these were actually referred to as. A Canadian friend of mine refers to this model (The CDN-specific one) as the "Mini One-thousand." However, the 1978 British Leyland promo film "The Best Mini Yet" seen here: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqACkmcHjrM) refers to this model as "The Mini Thousand." Is there a preferred nomenclature? |

Mini 1000 (or 850) was recognised name in UK and most other places. See boot badge on this 1970 example |
