Really? I doubt it. But if so, the car would have brand new, since the LWB-version was introduced in October 1972... (if my infos are correct) |

I cannot confirm the exact date when the long wheelbase version was introduced, DynaMike. Only that I remember that Jaguar very soon realised after the XJ6 (Series I) went on sale that the rear legroom was too small. I worked on the rear doors and for the inner-panel they welded in an extra section about 30 to 40mm in length and just re-tooled a new outer-panel. I cannot say if that was the late Series I or for Series II cars only that it was in the early 1970s. I didn't start working for Jaguar before mid-1971. It wasn't until a lot later that the inner-panel was made as a single pressing, I guess when the short wheelbase version was dropped. -- Last edit: 2007-03-26 16:47:48 |

Difficult indeed... But I found something else: production numbers of the XJ6 XJ6 2.8 : 19.426 (6.125 LHD) XJ6 4.2 : 58.972 (25.505 LHD) XJ6 4.2 LWB : 584 (1 LHD) Infos from ("Rétroviseur" #173 and) "Het Automobiel" #7, 23rd year (July 2002). |

LWB was Oct 72 onwards (so impossible in 71 film), only on 4.2 in series I. |
