Why is this the only car in colour??

It's not, the '57 Imperial is also in colour. However, most of the movie is in black and white, with certain random items in colour (I'm not sure of the reason for that though).

I liked my side-top view of the car :o Well, do not forget to update the time-tag (or remove it) when you take a picture from another scene (though I think that it is better to take picture from the same scene when replacing it :p)

The second thumbnail I posted is a better top view of the car then the one you originally selected, but I couldn't resist having the great big Caddy grille in the main image.

The movie was based on a graphic novel which was in black and white. To show emphasis on key items depending on the dialogue or action sequence some items which were important were in color. So they emulated that in the movie as well.

Actually, they only did that for the movie. In the book, everything is in black and white, with a few exceptions. The first is Roark Junior after his transformation, and the second is Wallace's hallucination sequence in Hell and Back (this will be the main story of the third movie, with Johnny Depp as Wallace, if they ever get around to filming it), and the third is The Babe in The Babe Wore Red. Blood, however, is also black and white. Black when on a white background, and white when on a black background.

The reason they filmed things in colour was some items, like Jacky Boy's Chrysler and such, came out a weird shade of grey when filmed on grey scale. They made blood red when on a black surface because it looked too much like mud when black.

For some reason the Wikipedia entry for the deVille mentions that Dwight drives a deVille.

Someone needs to fix that, as this is clearly not a deVille.

Okay, now Wikipedia is saying it's an Eldorado.

They really don't care at Wiki.

Wikipedia is not recommended as a single source for information, for the reason you just mentioned, and more.

My point exactly.

In the book, Dwight mentions the top was broken and he was saving up for the parts to fix it, which was one of two reasons he couldn't use it to get rid of the bodies. The other was that the cop who followed him into Old Town probably got his plate number.

Coupe deville. Same as the one from 3000 miles to graceland.

^There's no convertible DeVille in 1959.

Anyone know what shade of red that is?

1959 color was called Seminole Red.

Not just that, his car is too distinctive, the cops would've got a description of his car.

True, Jackie Boy's 1957 Imperial Sedan is a light blue colour with a white roof and a bit of light blue on the rear part of the roof.

Could this be the same Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz 1959, which is present in the second film?

No. This is a Series 62, not an Eldorado, and is a noticeably darker shade of red than the car in the sequel.
