Why the surprise about DL being the Isle of Wight registration letters? IoW is a populous and prosperous area, supporting, inter alia, Southern Vectis Bus Company and many touring coach operators, as well as private cars. BDL indicated 12,000 registrations by 1937, Burton-on-Trent had only reached 6587 by that year, and Zetland 1160. |
