Is it a Phaeton? |

It is a chineese Passat. |

Would go for that - looks too big for a Passat, although the camera might be lying. |

I believe it's a Shanghai-Volkswagen Passat: /vehicle_80559-Shanghai-Volkswagen-Passat-Typ-3B-1999.html |

In China they have a longer version (also or only), the Skoda Superb is based on this car. |

It does not look like the two Passat listed on Shanghai-VW website... If it is a Phaeton it is just VW and not Shanghai-VW or FAW-VW: http://www.volkswagen.com.cn/publish/en/showroom/showroom_phaeton.html But it reminds more that fake Phaeton than a real one: /vehicle_74601-Opel-Omega.html -- Last edit: 2007-03-08 11:28:36 |

Agree with Weasel and badlymad: SVW Passat B5. Was introduced in 1999 with a 9 cm longer wheelbase than the german version and is still produced in the old shape. -- Last edit: 2007-03-08 14:32:49 |

It is maybe just because of the chrome and grille color that I thought that it was something else then... |

Yes, it's the Highline trim level here with all that bling-bling, I think. |

The Shanghai Volkwagen website offers this tribute to the mystical power of the Passat: http://www.csvw.com/csvw/en/product/passat/index.htm -- Last edit: 2007-03-08 17:28:29 |
