Stainless steel rear view mirrors suggests a MY before 1978, no GL badge in the grille suggests a L or a DL. 1978+ bumper suggests it has been involved in a crash at some point. It's very difficult to see what colour it has. If baige, it should be a 1977 as that was one of the most common colours that year http://bright-cars.com/photo/volvo-244-dl/02/default.html (although that one has head lights and bumbers from a 1979 242/244/245 DL). -- Last edit: 2016-05-15 23:11:01 |

In the above statement I wrote MY BEFORE 1978. That is MY (= Model Year) 1977 or earlier. When looking at the car again, I can see that also the grille has been changed. That can be seen as the chrome strip above and beneath the grill doesn't seem to continue above and beneath the head lamps. In reality a chrome strip is attached to the front of the hood/bonnet and the front wing. It is marked as "unknown". As it's impossible to find out how many doors this car has when watching it head on, (244 means series 2, 4 cylinders, 4 doors), is it too far fetched to name it 240? Although that is stricktly speaking wrong as it wasn't called that until MY 1983. |
