Built in Australia. Australia has exported Camries to the Middle East since 1996. This one too: /vehicle_913104-Toyota-Camry-XV40-2007.html

Are all Camrys in the UAE imported from Australia? If not, we shouldn't list it as built in Australia.

I think it's safe to assume that the answer is yes (edit: well, at least a 98% chance - see below). Why would they import them from two different countries? That would make no sense, since Camries made in different countries differ in many ways - some by appearance, trim levels, colours, etc. For example, the Camry made in Russia looks different, as does the US version. Also, the UAE is not a very big car market, to justify sourcing them from multiple factories.

Here's an article I found from 2004: Link to "www.autoweb.com.au"

"Dubai Transport has a 98 percent fleet take up of Australian made Camrys supplied by United Arab Emirates distributor Al-Futtaim Motors."

Al-Futtaim Motors is the exclusive distributor of Toyota in UAE. So what would be the other 2%? Hmm.

The last 2% could be USA built models, considering how close the US and the UAE is.

Doesn't it mean that 2% of the fleet is not Camrys?

I don't think so, because if you look at photos of taxis in Dubai, it's made up of a mixture of Camry, Sonata, Altima and others. Camrys make up nowhere near 98%. I'm pretty sure it means 98% of Camrys, and not 98% of the overall fleet (however, that article is from 2004, so maybe things were different then?).

Perhaps, but that would be odd. In any case, the Camry in this photo is almost certainly Australian and not US:

1) All Australian Camrys had mudflaps standard, except for the Sportivo models which had a body kit/spoiler instead. US models did not come with mudflaps (but possibly sold as an accessory?). The one in the photo here has them.
2) US Camrys had chrome trim on the boot lit, whereas on this one it's painted (like on lower grade AU models).
3) Australian export models had chrome door handles, like this one. US models didn't have this.

That said, I did find a US model 2005 Camry in the UAE: Link to "www.cars24.ae"

I'm not sure if this car was brought in by someone from the USA, or was sold brand-new there?

To clear up things, I'm fairly sure that all GCC Spec XV30 Camry's were built in Australia. That being said, there are two things worth mentioning.

1. Examples of a Gulf Market car being sourced from multiple plants have occurred before. Either on specific trim/body configuration (Ex. XV50 Camry & 10th gen Civic) or company switching the importation within the production run (ex. Toyota Fortuner).

2. Dubai RTA began operating Hybrid Camry's since around 2012 or so. However, because Toyota never sold the Hybrid Camry in the Gulf until 2018, RTA simply just imported them from North America. I believe most were Canadian spec based on Copart Middle East searches.
