This is a LPS for sure.

(L = Lastkraftwagen = Truck, P = Pullman = Cab Over Engine, S = Sattelschlepper = Tool http://www.weilenmann.net/old/griechenland1999/pages/web127.htm for pulling a Semitrailer.)

Three digits on the front door means 911. As far as I understand (list of models from a book published by Mercedes themselves covering the whole 1968 MY, being aware that other possibly number combinations like 913 were reserved for other models, and the Internet) that is the only alternative.

I'd say this is a LPS 911.

LPS is correct, but don't you think pulling a trailer like this requires a little more than 110 HP, or a 9 tons truck? (Min 7HP pr ton GW, total load of 15 tons seems rather low)

Check the cabin, the 9xx was narrower and only had two wipers. Can't see the wheels clearly, but they seem larger as well.

When I first looked at it, I thought the door badge didn't look long enough for a four digit number. The problem is that I still think like that.

Today we're very used to speed and comfort, but I believe back in those days cost was much more important. Not long before that (like during the Wars), there was even less power on offer.

As far as I understand, the cabin was only available with three wipers https://picturepush.com/public/13586197 and the only alternative configuration I've seen http://buzzybeeforum.nl/viewtopic.php?f=147&t=4753&start=210 (top) has the middle one removed.

Also the wheels look the right size to me.

it seems to have the bigger wheels, so we might have to consider it is a 4 digit missing some digits, which was quite often that days.

edit: we had a similar 1113 than, it was quite painful to climb the Elzer Berg with it.
