^Based on what? If you have an insight, by all means, enlighten us.

1978-1981 Zephyr, 1982 Cougar, 1983-1985 Marquis

The bumper with black endcaps may be significant for narrowing it down.

Okay, after more research, the chrome around the taillights and along the bottom of the tailgate eliminate Zephyr from the running. The black endcaps are present on every '82 Cougar wagon I find, and absent from every '83+ Marquis. I badly want it to be an '82 Cougar, so I may be biased. Anyone else want to doublecheck my work?

1983 Marquis (this car does not have the separate opening glass hatch like the movie car, but it was an option through 1986):

@CougarTim - I never said that it was a Zephyr. I said that it looked like one.

Yes. It does look like a Zephyr. It also looks like a Cougar, and like a Marquis. But it does not look more like a Zephyr than it does a Marquis. Ford messed with the names of these Fox-body wagons a lot for a few years, without changing much on the exterior (and even less under the skin). Why did you choose Zephyr over Marquis? It is a simple question.

I think the black plastic bumper end caps were specific to the Cougar because it was supposed to be more of a 'Euro-oriented' model. That's what I vote for.
