It has a "Wheeled Coach" badge on the rear. |

Wheeled Coach builds exclusively on Ford chassis, This is either a Type I (F-350) or a Type III (E-350). The mirror height looks more like an E-350 to me. Comments?? http://www.wheeledcoach.com/custom_type3.asp |

Should 'Wheeled Coach' be the make name? |

I personally don't think so. We don't list the body manufacturers of cube vans do we? |

Sure we do. For example, Grumman only makes bodies for their stepvans they don't make the chassis. |

Well, it depends on the cases. Some are well known producer of vehicles, others are just known as those that make the changes to the cars. |

Like Grumman, Wheeled Coach uses chassis from other makers. They use Chevrolet and Ford chassis to make ambulances and other emergency vehicles. See: Link to "www.ambulancetrader.com" Both ford and chevy types are listed - 3&4 are chevys, 5&6 are fords. How do we know this is a 'changed' Ford?? I still think that Wheeled Coach should be the maker just like Grumman that uses both ford and chevrolet chassis. -- Last edit: 2007-03-03 19:22:20 |

Opinions, comments ?? |

Grumman makes a whole body for the truck. Here they just take a chassis-cabin and add a "cube" on the rear, like lots of other companies. |

That may be true. But my point is that Wheeled Coach uses both Ford and Chevrolet chassis/cab. They did not use ford exclusively. Further, you can't detemine from this picture which chassis/cab it may be. For this Wheeled Coach is a chevrolet: Link to "www.ambulancetrader.com" note the "make" under 'features'. -- Last edit: 2007-03-04 23:00:32 |

Maybe that this particular model was made only on Ford chassis? Cf Firebird's comment... |

I didnt mean to start a big controversy on this unit. I spoke to a sales representative at Wheeled Coach in Orlando Florida, he informed me that Wheeled Coach built on Ford medium duty chassis for type I and type III units, they do build other models on Sterling (which took over marketing on the heavy duty Ford chassis) I described the unit in question, he looked online and stated he thought it looked like an E Series Type III, thats where I got the info that I quoted, perhaps other Wheeled Coach factories utilize other chassis, I dont know. As far as what this should be listed as, wouldnt it be listed under the chassis and then list the aftermarket manufacturer as additional info? Comments?? |

I also didn't mean to start a big controversy. I simply made a comment about grumman and got unreasonable replies. I just wanted to be sure that we list it correctly. Since, I have found several other Wheeled Coach vehicles, similar to this one, built on chevrolet chassis and since there are no identifying marks on this one I question the ID. I have no particular problem with listing the chassis with aftermarket maker in additional info providing we can definately ID the chassis. I am still not sure this the case here where we can see only part of the back of the vehicle. Bottom line is: not all Wheeled Coach are Ford so we have to be careful. |
