Look at the posted picture carefully and notice the different hatch: the basic of that car must be a 86-88 Pontiac GTA Notchback ! It haven't the 'normal' hatch with the large window, just a precipice window. But the ground effects and front bumper is originally from 1991-1992 TransAm The T-Tops aren't a feature to differetiate Firebirds from GTA or Trans Am. There are a lot of Firebirds with T-Top The GTA is just a trim level, which you can only differentiate because of the badges on the front nose, front fender and 2nd post (metal badges) and this car hasn't the GTA front seats, not another original seat either. |

The full name of the car would be a Pontiac Firebird Trans Am GTA (quite a mouthful). The GTA was an option package over a standard Trans Am. Seeing as it has the 1991/1992 side skirts, front bumper and rear lamps, I can't help wondering whether it's a 1991 or 1992 fitted with an aftermarket notchback. Such conversions are available out there, and would be a cheap and easy way to make the car look a bit different for the movie. |
