They are a Sierra (visually identical to a European XR4i though I think the engines were different). |

Yes it had a 2.3 4cylinder turbo which was never used in Europe or anywhere else where they made Sierras. In Europe we got a 2.8 V6 non-turbo instead. Strange quirk was that the Merkur XR4i was eligible for touring car homologation despite never being sold here in that form, and won the 1985 British Saloon Car Championship and did well in 86 but these Andy Rouse team cars were presumably unique for being RHD Merkurs. Apparently GM owned the Sierra name in US so they needed a different name. |
