I think there were other names for other markets. Briefly popular in UK - got lots of press coverage as the spiritual successor to Hillman Imp - rear engine compact, sporty, fun to drive and the opening rear window. |

thats my car years before i rescued redesigned modified and rebuilt her so she was in a tv series thats great i see she originally had suzuki alloy wheels and a suzuki bull bar .She arrived at my house as a bare shell on wheels with a bad engine and mostly stripped out of parts in Northern Ireland that was going to be be sent to be scrapped at a scrapyard in England which is where i originaly got her from these photos are from summer 2024 The car has a 2 liter 3sge toyota celica engine with an altezza 6 speed gearbox with ford sierra ls diff with rear disc brakes the car never had ae92 running gear which has been mentioned on flickr just an ae92 petrol tank and 1600cc 4age engine until the 2 liter went in about 5 years ago which made her a very different car to when she had the 1600 cc the photo above shows her with a long back in 2007 but was shortened by 8 inches the following year and looks a lot better than original the car is on the road all the time and drives very well and ill never sell it engine![]() ![]() |

I had no idea my car had been on tv untill a work colleague of mine put her reg number into google and there she was in her previously unmodified form He had discovered an important bit of history about my car so i registered onto this site to add to her story here She gets a lot of attention on the road and at car shows ive won a few awards for her over the years The car took one winter to design the chassis and about 7 years to build her i just took my time and enjoyed the build experience i wanted to keep the original front and back and basically just lengthened her and put on wide arches to cover the wheels on their sierra axles a simple enough idea She is a great car to drive and very stable the 2 liter engine runs off an emerald programmable ecu and has so much torque and doesnt have to work very hard to move her along and i just treat her as a post 40 year old car. hope you like the updates i just had to add this to the site |
