Changed the main image (old one is the first thumbnail now) |

But duplication of main images isn't allowed and we now have this one posted three times... Maybe it would be better if Danzie could provide one of the rear shots without black borders as a replacement for at least one of the Cadillacs? |

I'm guessing WHT refers to White House. In reality the US President flies over his own heavily armoured limo when visiting other countries. |

So you'd rather have a main image where only the grille is visible? For the '78 Cadillac we could instead use the rear view pic. -- Last edit: 2016-02-17 15:36:48 |

No, I'd rather have a rear shot for one of them. It looks crap having the exact same pic listed so many times. |

And not shrunken down to 359 pixels high as well. It should be 498 pixels high. -- Last edit: 2016-02-17 15:41:32 |

Totally fake plate - you can't get mainland UK plates with 3 letters and 4 numbers (you can in NI, but only with one of the letters being I). The nearest genuine issued combination was WHT 134T - a Mazda B pick-up. |

This series is on 4od, if Danzie's not around I can make a capture now, I just have to wait through some adverts. -- Last edit: 2016-02-17 15:44:53 |

Actually you can: /vehicle_365771-Mercedes-Benz-814-D-T2-1990.html But we do have quite rigid numbering rules for our plates. -- Last edit: 2016-02-17 15:49:44 |

Re G-MANN's link, xIG is County Fermanagh in Northern Ireland. Link to "en.wikipedia.org" |

Oh yes, I see, he was right. I can't find the scene with the Cadillac rear view in episodes 1 & 2 (which are joined together on 4od) so I'll leave it for Danzie to sort out, I can't be bothered to wait through more 4od advert breaks to look for it. -- Last edit: 2016-02-17 16:18:19 |

I have not shrunk any images, that is exactly how they were screenshotted. |
◊ 2016-02-17 16:39 |
Then why is the main image bigger than the thumbnails? |

|
◊ 2016-02-17 16:42 |
May be something to do with 640 being in the upload box, I normally put that in, I'm not very technical and nearly always when I upload somebody starts crying about something. |
◊ 2016-02-17 16:42 |
OK, I've used that 2nd thumbnail to replace the main image for the '78 Caddy. |
◊ 2016-02-17 16:47 |
It's because you didn't cut out the black borders using a paintshop/photoshop type program, so if you resize it to 640 with the borders still on, it makes the picture smaller. (sorry, I don't mean to have a go at you about it) -- Last edit: 2016-02-17 16:51:19 |

Its cool I just get frustrated a lot on this site as I'm always doing something wrong, like posting a full size image in a comment, which I recently got told was 'illegal' but wondered why the feature was there in the first place. I only ever put images with black borders for additional images for a vehicle in the comments as ages ago an admin said it was OK for me to do so, but not as the main image. |

It just doesn't look that good if pics have big black borders on them. Ideally borders should be completely cropped out but I decided with your pics they were small enough to let it pass (in the past new contributions have not been validated for ages because admins decided to wait for the contributor to fix them and nothing happened for days or even weeks) |
◊ 2016-02-17 17:00 |
By the way, which episode are the thumbnails from? |
◊ 2016-02-17 17:04 |
I never put pictures with borders as the main picture as I agree they don't look good for a main picture, the thumbs are from EP3. |

@Danzie - keep the faith - you'll get the hang of it - most of us had a learning curve until we sussed it out. And your postings are excellent finds. In general, all we want are pages that look their best for viewers on all sorts of devices. Lots of older stuff without digital treatment does not work well at large sizes - too fuzzy or murky. Downsizing to 720 or 640 gives better definition (even if you're working from a genuine DVD - many 70s/80s series get transferred without quality enhancement, compare for instance with the quality of the Sweeney series where the DVD set was painstakingly upgraded with a huge improvement). Black borders usually look ugly and distracting, but can be quickly cured with a screen snip tool. Full-size images often throw the page out of alignment - you should find an option to post a thumb instead when uploading. |
