The vehicle details for LYL 880P are - Austin Date of Liability 01 01 1998 Date of First Registration 18 12 1975 Year of Manufacture 1975 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 2520CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Heavy Oil Export Marker Not Applicable Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour BLACK The registration number appears to be correct for this taxi however the front over-riders have been replaced at some time. On a 1975 model they would be chromed. Black ones were not fitted until 1979. |

I believe it was possible to buy the FX4 without all the taxi fittings. Some celebs and businesses are know to own them. They were popular as an easier method of getting around London. However 'Austin/LTI FX4' (or FX3) should be sufficient for listing here. It is different for the earlier 1930s style cab. I believe Austin 12/4 taxi is necessary as it is very different from an Austin 12/4 saloon built on the same chassis. |

I'm pretty sure that, at the time of the Falklands War, the Falkland Islands governor's official car was an FX4. -- Last edit: 2007-02-21 12:48:49 |
