None Ascona,that should be the Chevrolet(BR)Monza,a Brazilian clone of 1982 to 1988 Opel Ascona III http://www2.uol.com.br/bestcars/classicos/monza-3.htm -- Last edit: 2007-02-19 22:13:24 |

Is it an independent plant - this which produced these cars in Brazil, or just GM branch? If branch I think, this car should has an US or German origin plus "made for BR". -- Last edit: 2007-02-20 18:40:13 |

By brochures got by Make, the "GM do Brasil S.A."was located in Saò Bernardo do Campo,in Saò Paulo State and yes,was a Brazilian branch of GM USA existing since Twenties'down there In the next Argentina was meanwhile operative until 1977 circa the GM Argentina, that build some cars of Chevrolet and Opel origins(like the 1969 Chevrolet Chevy,an almost-clone of BR-made 1968 Opala, that derives,as was known,by Opel Rekord[C]or the 1974 Opel K-180,an Argentinian-made Kadett[C] with Isuzu-derived engine) |

Yeah.. there is an Brazilian Chevrolet Monza... But there isn't a 1983 Monza... This model is a 1992-1996 Chevrolet Monza... And PLEASE; Change germanian flag for brazilian flag. Thanks |

If the Chevrolet Monza is just an Ascona with a Chevrolet badge, the origin should be Germany. |

On the other hand, the Vauxhall Cavalier is just an Ascona with a Vauxhall badge... so it is always a difficult question What is Brazilian in this model? It is just an old GM-Europe model, no? -- Last edit: 2007-07-23 18:10:20 |

well, was made in brasil and the model have a few style changes only in brasil that the ascona dont have, as the front lights and stuff like that... actually GM do brasil design and build cars only for our market...i mean, the cars were released before here with special specifications(many times suspension and direction are tigh than the europeans, a few style changes...) |

The 4-door version of the Chevrolet Monza was introduced in May 1983. This film was shot in Argentina and although I don't know exactly when did the Monza was firstly imported there, the older I found was a 1986 one for sale on MercadoLibre. -- Last edit: 2008-01-14 17:20:18 |

That Monza is of the last facelift happened in 1991. There were extensive modifications in the whole front and back part, what never happened in the version Ascona of Opel, that besides had already given place to Vectra. The front of last Monzas was 8,5 cm longer, it lowers and gauged. The back increased 4,2 cm and the license plate passed for the involving plastic bumper. Head's props drained in Monza of the picture it indicates that he is of the last crop of the model. Pictures: http://www2.uol.com.br/bestcars/classicos/monza-6.htm |
