My 'Standard Catalog of American Cars 1946-1975, 3rd edition' has it as 'DeSoto' (upper case S no space). The car that I owned and ones that I have seen did not have the space either on the car or title. The car was apparently named for Hernando de Soto (lower case d and space) so who knows what is actually correct.

Long time ago they were listed "DeSoto" and it was asked to me to change it to "De Soto".
Anyway I suppose that this truck should be listed under "Askam" like that one: /vehicle_10965-Askam-AS250.html (Askam AS900 then)

Sorry, what I said earlier applied to the old US cars made by Chrysler.

For this truck, the brand name is desoto. The parent company is Askam. For other companies, like G.M. and Ford we list the brand name as the make - for example chevrolet is a brand name made by G.M.

I think we should continue to list by brand name rather than parent company. In this case the truck should be a desoto model AS 900.

If we don't list them that way how are we going to list a Fargo if one is posted - they both can't be Askam.

We could put Askam in extra info to distinguish them from the old chrysler made DeSoto.

Possible, I do not know what would be the right name in this case.
The other one should be renamed to Dodge then.
Note that, like for DeLorean and some others, on their logo (top right corner of the site) "DeSoto" is actually written with a half-space between the "De" and the other part. So we can write it in the same way as the old US DeSoto cars I think (i.e. "De Soto").

It is difficult but I still think we should use the brand names: Desoto, Dodge, Fargo, etc. I would suggest that we list the makes as: Askam De Soto, Askam Fargo, Askam Dodge, etc. That would separate them from the US brands (to avoid confusion) and still be consistent with our naming practices.

Why do we have to separate them? We already have some other brands mixed together withouth real link between them. One or two more will not change much :D

OK, but list by brand name and not parent company. This one is a De Soto, AS 900 and the other one you linked to is a Dodge, AS 250. They should not be listed as Askam. Recall that I raised the issue of parent company and brand name on the forum and most wanted to list brand name and omit the parent company information.

Lets keep "by Askam" in extra info to remind the company name then ;)
