This scene was the reenactment of the capture of Bulger associate, Stephen "Rifleman" Flemmi who was arrested outside a restaurant in Boston by agents of the DEA on the night of the 5th January 1995. After hearing the news of the arrest, Flemmi's brother and a Boston Police Department detective, Michael Flemmi had alerted Bulger's associate, Kevin Weeks of the arrest and led Weeks to inform Bulger and resulted in Bulger going on the run. Michael Flemmi soon later retired from the Boston Police Department but was later arrested in 2000 when he was caught removing an arsenal of over 70 weapons that Stephen hidden in the shed at their mother's home, he was convicted and sentenced 10 years imprisonment in 2002. In 2003, he pled guilty for selling jewellery that Stephen had stolen years earlier. A short time later, an Attorney General Organized Crime investigator and former Massachusetts State Police lieutenant, Richard Schneiderhan was also arrested. Schneiderhan had been an associate of both Bulger and Flemmi, he was convicted of obstruction of justice and conspiracy and was remanded to the Federal Correctional Complex in Butner, North Carolina. He was released on the 4th October 2006. -- Last edit: 2022-02-26 09:45:24 |
