No, a wet cl82-dream, a Chrysler 180.
No 2 litres, because the little round badge on the C-pillar is missing.

:??: I've no relation at all to this car; I've even never seen one "in the flesh". But didn't your wife's parents have one? I think I can remember the story about the badge on the C-pillar.

Of course you have a relation - it was Rootes-based, so it's automatically a cl82-car :p

A propos Rootes-crap: today I've found in my classic car magazine a flyer for this event:
http://www.verkehrsmuseum-dresden.de/de/rootes-treffen_2016.html

I will not be there for several reasons. It's extremely far away for me (London is closer from here), plus the fact, that I strictly boycott everything from an in that area for political reasons and the third reason, that I will make annother try this year to visit

That's perfectly understandable. I was in Dresden ca. 20 years ago, that should do for the next couple of years although it is a picturesque city nevertheless. Still, if I had the time in May, I'd go there just out of curiousity as I really would like to know how big the German/European Rootes-community really is. Besides, your link says they're planning a 190km-tour right through the "Erzgebirge"/Ore Mountains. That would be awesome to watch, too. Just think of all the cars that will break down there.

The German Rootes-crap-community is wee. I've talked with them on the last Techno Classica. Actually they are for 90% Sunbeam Alpine/Tiger-owners. Other dsl-crap does nearly not exist, two, three Imps -NL- or B-imports-, not much more.
Some years ago there was an article in the "Oldtimer Markt" or the "Oldtimer Praxis" about the only existing Hillman Hunter, sold originally in Germany. Later on I've seen this car for sale at a Veterama in Mannheim, for an affordable price, 1.300€ or so - but I was to fainthearted to purchase it [:shy]

:king: breaking news for Rootes-crap lovers! In the new issue of "Oldtimer Markt" there's a story about one of the Minxes, exported to the DDR! The car is owned and was restored by the
http://www.verkehrsmuseum-dresden.de/en/
It's a IIIa, officially imported and sold in 1960 to a doctor from the Nomenklatura's all-time favourite https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wismut_%28mining_company%29
VIN-no "1060517" (the original invoice still exists)

A few other incoherent information-bits are to find in that article, too.
- the previous owner (he bought the Minx in the 80ies), said, that in the lates 80ies in his village
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hermsdorf_%28Th%C3%BCringen%29
were running four Minxes
- in 1961 totally 40 Minxes were imported in West Germany
- the Museum owns a photo from a Minx-enthusiasts-meeting in CS (not said, which year) - with 5 cars.

 The moment I saw the February-issue had arrived at the newsagents, I knew there would be some reaction here on the site. I've looked over the article briefly and can't remember everything, but the thing that shocked me most was that they cost 2.5 or even three times as much in the East compared to Western Germany. It's well-known that GDR-citizens had to suffer a lot, but the prices for some imported goods were the icing on the cake.

The prices for used cars were more absurd, sometimes even higher than for new cars. So an used Wartburg costs more than 20.000 DDR-Mark and an used VW T3 Transporter (only those were sold in the DDR, not the posh Bus, Caravelle etc.) minimum 100.000 DDR-Mark.

The official rate to the D-Mark was 1:1 (Western visitors had mandatory to change 25 Mark every day 1:1 and "private" changing was strictly forbidden), but the "black market"-rates were minimum 1:3 to 1:7. The best rates you could get in West German bank-offices. Once I got there DDR-Mark for the rate 1:11 :king:
But these deals were quite useless due the grotesque prices in the DDR. Regular stuff was extremely subsidized, but premium products ("premium" for DDR-proportions) extremly overpriced - and contemporaneously flogged in West Germany. We Western visitors had enough problems to get rid off the daily 25 Mark - no kidding, some of us ate 3 times the main course in HO-restaurants. For car-drivers alcohol was a problem due the 0.0-alcohol level there (a beer in a restaurant costs 51 DDR-Pfennig
